The ability to make one web page link to another one with a simple mouse click is one of the more revolutionary aspects of the web. This ability is called hypertext, a term coined by Theodor Holm Nelson.

We will investigate three types of links:

  1. Links to other sites (like this link to the World Wide Web Consortium's site)
  2. Links to other pages on your site (like the ones in the list below)
  3. Links that jump to a different part of the same page (like the link at the bottom of this page)
